Sweden's Carlsson earns IM title!

Spain has been good to Pontus Carlsson, the recently-turned 22-year old player from Sweden. Over the past couple of months, Carlsson has picked up two International Master norms, thus securing the three he needs for the title. After failing to meet the norm requirement in the Calvia International Open (where he scored 6-3), he  played in Torneig Internacional de Cala Millor in Mallorca earning his 3rd norm with 5½-3½.

The amount of FIDE ELO points earned in the two tournaments should put Carlsson above the required 2400 rating for the title. However, he mentions that the gain will not be reflected until the April list is released. Nevertheless, congratulations are in order for Pontus Carlsson for earning his 3rd IM norm!
