Subject: [The Chess Drum] Special
Competition in Zones 4.2 and 4.3
From Jerry Bibuld
(International Arbiter - USA)
There is a special
competition in this Olympiad, involving the teams from FIDE Zones 4.2 and
4.3.
The Men's Team in each zone that scores the greatest number
of points during the Olympiad will win a one year subscription to New in
Chess, for its federation. In addition, the Women's Team, from the two
zones combined, that scores the greatest number of points during the Olympiad
will win a one year subscription to New in Chess, for
its federation. (There are only six Women's Teams -- five from Zone 4.3 --
competing, which is why only one subscription has been put up.) However, a
subscription must go to three different federations, so, if the Women's Team
that wins is from a federation whose Men's Team has won, the award will be made
to the federation of the next Women's Team. If that federation's Men's
Team also has won, the award will go to the federation of the third Women's
Team.
Following is how the teams stand in the competitions after round
