GM Pontus Carlsson of Sweden is on a blistering pace to win a gold medal on board four. The newly-minted GM is playing in the European Team Chess Championships and is currently on an undefeated 5-2 with key wins over GMs Ioannis Papaioannou (Greece) and Merab Gagunashvili (Georgia).
