Eddie Lamptey-Thompson just posted a message on the ghanachess group about the Ghanaian chess calendar. Ghana has rejuvenated their chess community and played in their first Olympiad in over 20 years when they competed in Dresden last month. They will use this momentum to launch a strong campaign to popularize chess throughout the nation. Let’s hope Ghana’s upcoming election run-off will go smoothly and the winner will provide support for chess!

Thanks for the well-wishes. This is good news indeed! I believe Liberia is also trying to get their chess program off the ground. I did a story on them some time ago and Lewis Ncube has shown me pictures of their activities.
You mean the dutchman had to represent Ghana , no way.
What abut 1957\60. It’s ll about Independence & the republic. we cannot throw away our soverienty Exodus ch. 15.
It should have been all play all, round robin, when the opportunity presented itself ,of 15 rounds 28\2, 1\3, 6\3 7\3 & 8\3 , with the ladies registered to play playing the round robin twiceover.
My name should not have been excluded. I seem to have checked to late. Injunctions are not an impossibility. Ghana ‘s fees to FIDE surelyis the least the sports council can pay if presented on time.

I don’t have any information. You may join “ghanachess” at Yahoo Groups to find out. I searched my e-mail from the group, but didn’t see any reference to it. Kees Hoogendijk, a player from Holland, gave a workshop on May 23rd, but I haven’t heard of any workshop in Kumasi. I’m not sure of Kees’ strength, but they have given him the authority to train some of the members.
Wonder if Kassa Korley would want to play for Ghana in future Olympiad tournaments?
Here is an article I found on Chessvibes primarily focusing on the Dutch player Kees Hoogendijk playing for Ghana.

Daaim, may you kindly ask the African continental president to release the continental events dates..The schedule should be out by now.
I just received a report from Dabilani Buthali that the dates have not been set yet.
