Video Documentary on Fischer
An excellent documentary on Bobby Fischer has been presented on YouTube in a five-part series. Fischer was arguably the best player that ever played chess given the impact and the conditions he commanded for professional chess. Chess had come out of the throes of a club sport to one than investors wanted to associate with.
The documentary carries the viewer from Fischer’s earliest days as a child prodigy to his matches with Boris Spassky. The documentary ends with his pitiful demise as a persona non grata in the U.S. The video was shot prior to his death in Iceland where he is buried.
Most people are unaware of the fact that for thirty years, Bobby Fischer and his mother were kept under surveillance by the F.B.I.
