The Drum to beat in Africa!
The Chess Drum’s Daaim Shabazz will arrive in Africa on May 12th with a contingent of faculty members from universities around the continental U.S. The group will visit a number of businesses, organizations and sites in South Africa (3 days), Kenya (5 days) and Tanzania (5 days). Shabazz hopes to be blogging from Africa and will make every attempt to visit the chess clubs in the various sites.

In Arusha, Tanzania at this time. Are there any chess players here?
At a state park in Tanzania… beautiful place! I will try to put up some pictures of the trip. We visited a Maasai village today. Amazing place. If people live off a dollar a day, it is because they have everything the need in the land. I saw tree such as papaya, banana, passion fruit, avocado, lime, pomegrante, edible plants and herbs. Of course there were plenty of cattle being herded. More later!
