2011 Melody Amber (Monaco)
The 20th and final Amber Rapid and Blindfold Chess Tournament (Melody Amber) has begun today in Monaco, Italy in what has been a storied run of fantastic chess. The tournament will lose its support. The tournament is sponsored by Joop van Oosterom who named the tournament after his daughter.
Vladimir Kramnik has won the most overall titles in the history of the tournament with six. Magnus Carlsen and Vassily Ivanchuk won last year. Viswanathan Anand is the only player to have won both the blindfold and the rapid in the same year. Kramnik has won nine blindfold titles while Anand has won nine rapid titles.
