2013 Lagos Chess Classic (Lagos, Nigeria)

Egypt’s IM Abdelrahman Hesham won the 1st LAGOS STATE CHESS CLASSICS International Open Chess Tournament topping four others with 6/7 on tiebreaks. According to Abiola Akinseye’s Facebook report,

The final day of the Lagos state chess classic ended in some kind of anticlimax as the tournament leaders GM Dejan Antic of Serbia and IM Elijah Emojong of Uganda both lost on the Final day to their Egyptian counterparts giving way to a FIVE (5) WAY TIE on 6 POINTS for 1st to 5th place, IM HESHAM Abdelrahman was presented the Trophy at the presentation ceremony as he edged out others on TIE BREAK points.

  1. IM Bunmi Olape (right) had a difficult time and ended on 4/7.

    GM Dejan Antic was victorious against IM Oladapo Adu, but could not overcome the rest of the field despite being top seed.
