Oleiny Linares at 2023 Chicago Open

Oleiny Linares Napoles is a four-time national champion of Cuba (2010, 2016, 2019, 2023) and competed in the U.S. for the first time at the Chicago Open in Wheeling, Illinois. A Woman Grandmaster (WGM) since 2010, she is one of the most featured women players on The Chess Drum. After completing her first U.S. tournament, Linares granted an interview and talked about her chess career with Daaim Shabazz. The interview was conducted in Spanish and GM Fidel Corrales Jimenez served as the interpreter.
