Black History Month 2024 Tribute: Week 1
During this Black History Month 2024, The Chess Drum will present four videos featuring puzzles of several of the chess masters in the Black Diaspora. The videos will provide some historical information about each player and then one of the puzzles from a tournament game. Most of these puzzles were featured in one of the original segments called “Chess Crackers” running from 2001-2010.
Black History Month evolved from Negro History Week which was created by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926. While there are an increasing number of tributes on Black chess, there is still a tremendous void of information and hopefully, the completion of the upcoming book series will help to immortalize these contributions.
The puzzles in the video range from easy to difficult. Enjoy!
