All roads will lead to Atlanta for the 2nd Annual HBCU Chess Classic! Teams from Historically Black Colleges and Universities will send their best players to compete for prizes

Tournament Structure
The 2024 HBCU Chess Classic is a 5-round Swiss combining individual and team play
- The event has two sections for:
- Current HBCU Students
- HBCU Alumni
- Time Control: G/30 with a 5-second increment
- USCF Rated

Current Students
- Each team may consist of up to five players.
- Only the top four scores will be used to determine team prizes.
- A team may have less than 4 players and still compete for the team prize.
- Ratings: Team average ratings are based on individual ratings taken as of January 2024′
HBCU Alumni
- Individual format only with no team scoring or pairing
Registration Process
Step 1 – Team Registration:
- Team registration is independent from Roster Submission. Once a team is registered, you can follow up with Step 2.
Step 2 – Roster Registration:
- Once the team is registered, the captain can submit the team roster.
- All Players on a team must fill out the Student Eligibility form in order for them to be considered on a roster
- Roster registrations have to be submitted by April 18th
*This does not apply to Alumni
Player Eligibility
All current students must submit the Student Eligibility Form no later than April 18th.
