With Hurricane Ernesto bearing down on the Caribbean, St. Lucia completed nine rounds before visiting players had to leave. Dominican ambassador Dr. Jones Murphy, Jr. sent the following note:

We thank the St. Lucia Chess Federation for inviting us, accommodating us and hosting a splendid event. We will take the positives and work with our players for continued growth. Players had to return yesterday but due to bad weather couldn’t. We pray for their safe return!
