Barclay joint first at Park Forest!

Kayin Barclay

Chicago standout Kayin Barclay tied for first in the Park Forest Open over the weekend. This is perhaps his most significant win in an open tournament as he held co-champion Mesgen Amanov (2390) and Carl Boor (2300) to draws. The 17-year old senior will be competing in the National High School Championships this weekend in Atlanta. Barclay (now unofficially at 2148), is one of the brightest young talents in the African Diaspora and is looking to end his high school career on a high note.

  2. congratulations Kayin, keep up the good work, oh yeah I heard you chose Columbia. You know I was pulling for Princeton (smile). We miss you at Spoons. from Judge Burton.

  3. Kayin,

You got Columbia… you didn’t give me the news. Too bad we couldn’t get you down here in Tallahassee… it would have been interesting. However, I understood you were a first-round draft choice and it would be hard to get you. Columbia will be an interesting place… in many ways. You’ll get a chance to play chess… when time allows. Represent the “Chi”. 🙂

  4. Daaim, I haven’t had a chance to talk to Kayin B but I’m glad it was a great choice. Congratulations to Kayin B. All the best to him.

  5. Hey, very nice choice, indeed! My uncle (almost 90 years old now!) received both his BS and MS from Morehouse College! They also have an awesome Medical school now! Congratulations to Kayin, and best wishes for a super bright future! Study hard, and save a little time for some chess!! 🙂
