2008 CMMB Caribbean Chess Carnival (Port of Spain, Trinidad)
Edison Raphael hopes to put together another successful event with the 2008 Caribbean Chess Carnival. Last year’s event was a rousing success and this year promises to be bigger and better! The 2007 version was won by Cuban IM Humberto Pecorelli who edged out Zambia’s Amon Simutowe on tiebreaks. Simutowe earned his 3rd GM norm shortly after this tournament and is now closing out his requirement for the GM title.
Last year, there were participants from Zambia, Jamaica, Barbados, Netherlands Antilles, Martinique, Suriname, St. Lucia, Venezuela and the USA. Raphael is going to expand his list of invitees to strengthen the field.
