About The Chess Drum

The Chess Drum was launched on February 12, 2001 with the intended purpose of filling a void in international chess coverage. At the inception of this novel site, there were no outlets or resources to learn about the activities of chess players in the African Diaspora.

Thus, the purpose of this communicative vehicle is (1) to highlight the chess activities within the worldwide African Diaspora (2) to serve as a vehicle for fostering a greater sense of community with in the chess world, and (3) to facilitate the sharing of ideas and knowledge and (4) to demonstrate the true universality of chess.

There are many resources at The Chess Drum including news reports of tournaments, videos, interviews, essays, op/ed pieces, games, analysis and some educational information. It remains an all-purpose chess website provides a diversity of content. For more information on the website, visit the profile page.
