Norman "Pete" Rogers is a long-time fixture on the Philadelphia chess scene and is honored in the city's Chess Hall of Fame. His notoriety for chess is a close passion he displays for the sport. Rogers has is perhaps best known for participating in the World Open, America's largest open tournament held on an annual basis. He has earned two International Master norms and is poised to win the third in the near future.

This fall International Master
Greg Shahade launched the inaugural United States Chess League featuring eight teams from different geographic states and games were played online. The season was a rousing success and had the look a feel of any other professional sports league. Rogers played board #1 for the Philadelphia Masterminds and despite a substandard season, scored an exciting victory over league MVP, Pascal Charbonneau of Canada.
