Jayel Taylor, 5, competed in the Latin School Chess Tournament on January 15th at Chicago's Navy Pier and helped his team to a 2nd place trophy in the Primary Division (K-3). According to Krystal Taylor, his mother and #1 fan…
He played his first three rounds so well that his fourth round was actually at the #2 rated table. His opponent was tough, but Jayel gave it his all. He didn't win the match, but he won the knowledge of how to improve his game.
Readers may remember when Jayel burst onto the scene when the CBS news ran a news story about the exceptionally bright young lad. Since then, he has launched his own website (with Daddy Freddie's help) and started school at Player Primary.

If you've ever met Jayel or seen him, he was probably running, laughing or charming somebody with his smile. This bundle of energy is involved in many activities and is currently raising funds for his school to get new supplies. His goal is to sell 15 items from the Human-I-Tees, an environment conservation organization. If you'd like to help Jayel, contact his mother Krystal Taylor at jayeltay@yahoo.com. Deadline is January 28th.
