Hello Chess Friend, You are cordially invited to participate in the 2nd Warren Elliott Chess (WEC) Festival for juniors. The tournament is a part of FIDE Master Warren Elliott's effort to improve junior chess in Jamaica, as all winners will receive 3 full months of dedicated training from him. The concept of the tournament is outlined below. As I've played in many international tournaments I have come to realize that Jamaica needs to improve in many areas with regards to tournaments for juniors. In presenting this tournament, the organizers had just this in mind, resulting in:
Excellent and improved playing conditions; air conditioned playing room, sets and equipment provided, none smoking playing areas, comfortably furnished rooms, close bathroom facilities More varied categories - under 20, under 16, under 10 and female (and even a new category - 'young over 20') More usable prizes - chess Scholarships, cash, books, trophies, medals etc. Media coverage to expose the juniors Official opening and closing ceremonies - Speaker for the event: Mr. Ian Wilkinson (Speaking on Achieving Success in Chess and Life!)
Honorable mention awardees: NM John Powell, NM Geoffrey Byfield, NM Kevin Brown
