After 2 rounds of play in the 2007 LASCO National Chess
Championships, FIDE Master Warren Elliott is the sole leader
with two points from two games. He is closely followed by five players each on
1.5, they include National Master Mark Holness, Daren
Wisdom, Mark Henry, Zachary Ramsay
and Peter Myers.
On the first day of play on Saturday at
the RBTT Head Office in New Kingston, Elliott defeated Stuart
James, National Master Russel Porter dispatched
National Master Andrew Mellace, Myers got past National Master
Equitable Brown, Ramsay had a surprising win over seven-time
national champion National Master Shane Matthews, Holness
defeated Mikhail Solomon and Henry drew with
Wisdom.
Day two on Sunday saw Elliott handing Brown his second
successive defeat, Matthews was once again on the losing end, this time against
Mark Henry, Porter lost surprisingly to Daren
Wisdom, Mellace defeated Solomon, James drew with Ramsay and Holness
drew with Myers.
Rounds 3 and 4 of the LASCO National Chess
Championships take place this Saturday and Sunday at the RBTT Bank Head Office
starting at 1 p.m.
The President’s Invitational, which runs
concurrently with the Nationals, is currently being led by three players
National Master John Powell, Alain Morais and
JCF President Ian Wilkinson. Each are on a perfect score of 2
points from 2 games.
Unlike the Nationals there were not many
upsets.
