Detroit Chess podcast features Daaim Shabazz
Detroit’s Derek Wilder hosted his weekly podcast and invited me on the show. We discussed a number of issues including the founding of The Chess Drum, the autobiography of Emory Tate (Triple Exclam), methods of chess improvement, the value of blitz chess, harnessing talent in the Black community, and possibilities of greater camaraderie. I enjoyed it. The Tate story got cut off, but you can find in the comments. The upcoming Chicago Open will be on fire and this podcast touches some of the buzz!

A couple of slips…
Emmanuel Carter made master when he was 14, not 17. In the movie “Life of a King,” the main character was Eugene Brown of DC. I think I said Edward Brown. Michael Schleifer was 42 when he passed away, not in his 30s.
